Duncansby Head Lighthouse is situated in Caithness, Highland, in north-eastern Scotland. It is the most northeasterly part of the British mainland. History The tidal streams flowing through the Pentland Firth earned it the title 'Hell's Mouth' in the days of sail and it's still a place where unwary ships can become play things of the sea.

Duncansby Head ( Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Dhunngain [3] or Dùn Gasbaith [4]) is the most northeasterly part of both the Scottish and British mainlands, slightly northeast of John o' Groats. It lies approximately 20 km (12 mi) east-southeast of Dunnet Head, the northernmost point of both the Scottish and British mainlands.

19/01/2021 Driving north, Scotland seems to never end. On the most north easterly piece of mainland Britain stands Duncansby Head. With the swirling waters of the Pentland Firth nearly 70 metres below and the jagged cliffs nearby the need for a lighthouse in this remote location can be seen.
